I have a rare experience to share. .

Noone likes to think about funerals, so when my dad passed away recently, I contacted the first funeral home that came to mind. What I did not realise was I had inadvertently chosen a funeral home that is part of a big corporation (Invocare ) and whose lack of compassion and respect for my father managed to make the process of grieving 1000 times worse. I was so offended by the lack of respect shown for my darling dad during this process that I had no choice but to essentially start from scratch with another funeral home.

And THEN… I met Dom.

As you can imagine, the idea of planning not one, but two funerals during this painful time is confronting to say the least, but from the moment I did an internet search, looked at some reviews and decided to give Dom at Global Funerals a call, my life changed.

From the moment you speak to Dom, his compassion is evident. He is a lovely, caring soul, he told me not to worry, that my dad was his dad now and to his absolute word, he cared for my dad and my family as though he was a member of our own family.

Dom helped me at every step of the way to give my father a beautiful send off. I felt at peace because although grieving, I knew dad was in the very best hands.

Global Funerals delivered a service that was everything I had hoped for but beyond that, Dom also gave me incredible emotional support. My dad was a keen racing car driver, and Dom even found ways to elevate this connection that I had not thought of, such as adding a checkered flag to the helmet we had placed on dad’s coffin and adding beautiful wording related to racing as part of the booklet. At at the burial service, I looked over my shoulder and noticed Dom helping one of our older mourners to her car, not because he wants accolades but because he genuinely cares.

Since the funeral, Dom has texted me to check in on how my family is doing, just like a friend would. And today when he was at the cemetery attending to some other business, he swung by my mum and dad’s grave and paid them a visit, and sent me a quick photo.

Please, do yourself a favour and contact Dom before speaking to anyone else. This moment matters too much to get it wrong.
